Since 2015, more than $3.6 billion has been invested in bringing new commerce to Berkeley County, creating more than 9,700 new jobs in the area. The county has easy access to the Port of Charleston, two major interstates and rail lines which makes doing business, especially in automotive, advanced materials, biotechnologies, aerospace and information technology industries a smooth process.
Berkeley County is conveniently adjacent to Charleston – right in the heart of the South Carolina coast. The area has a population of more than 221,000, but the county is growing at a faster rate than the entire population of South Carolina and is expected to maintain that steady growth for years to come.
Within Berkeley County lie Lake Moultrie, a popular fishing and tourist attraction, as well as much of the Francis Marion National Forest, a lush, natural habitat filled with history and landmarks. The more quiet setting near an active metropolis paired with recent growth in industry and workforce make Berkeley County an appealing environment for ideal southern living.
