A growing workforce attracts exceptional employers.

Camp Hall, a commerce park for the next generation of industry, sits near one of the largest hubs for business in the Southeast – Charleston, South Carolina. Because of its thriving business climate and unparalleled quality of life, Charleston has attracted and built a significant workforce in the city and surrounding areas. Since 2009, the Charleston area has experienced a 19% increase in population and is expected to increase another 6.2% in the next five years. That’s about 34 new people moving to the area each day. Job growth in the region is also expected to increase 10-15% over the next 10 years.

The area offers a workforce-development advantage by strategically aligning business with education:

  • The Charleston area workforce is made up of nearly 500,000 people.
  • More than 40,000 students are enrolled in 24 area colleges, universities and technical schools.
  • 21% of people have a bachelor’s degree and 11% have a graduate degree or higher. That’s better than state and national averages.

To maintain a growing workforce population, nearby residential communities have already shown significant growth. One of the country’s top-selling master-planned communities, Cane Bay, and Nexton, a top-selling community in the Charleston region, are quickly expanding to accommodate the healthy blend of young, tech-minded, skilled labor and seasoned employees who are readily available to work.

Additionally, the average commute within the Charleston area is about 27 minutes. However, with many workers traveling into the city and with Camp Hall located northwest of Charleston on Interstate 26, the commerce park is optimally positioned so that the typical commute is reversed. This, in addition to the opening of the new I-26 interchange, significantly decreases travel time for workers.
