A Passon for Business and A Heart for Nature

The Process of Designing an Eco-Industrial Park

While Camp Hall is intently focused on building a community of thriving commerce and convenient essentials and extracurriculars, benefiting the environment is also high on our priority list. Of the entire site that is owned by Camp Hall, 28% of the land – that’s more than 2,650 acres – is preserved land devoted to natural growth, wildlife habitats, wetland restoration and features developed to maintain and improve a balanced ecosystem.

Approximately 1,265 acres of that 2,650 are protected freshwater wetlands. These areas are highly productive, hosting many species of plants and animals essential to the ecosystem’s survival. Amphibians, birds and the insects that help feed animals and pollinate plants will thrive at Camp Hall within this conservation land.

In addition to preserved wetlands, Camp Hall is also creating a Pollinator Pathway in South Carolina. This is a space designed to connect pollinator species to native resources they rely on to survive. Created habitats help these pollinators – like butterflies, bees and hummingbirds – find food and shelter and create an environment for these essential characters to thrive.

Camp Hall is also incorporating sustainable strategies into its design and functionality. Rainwater harvesting, car charging stations, and solar panels will all contribute to benefitting the people who come to work here while also reducing the commerce park’s environmental footprint.

Finally, Camp Hall is implementing numerous ways for employees who work at the commerce park to stay connected to nature and each other in the midst of busy days and after the workday is done. One of these is a planned 15-mile, multi-use trail system to provide a place for recreation and engagement with nature. Whether workers want to take a lunch break outdoors, get some exercise during the day, or wind down with an evening stroll, the outdoor trails throughout the commerce park offer plenty of natural space and opportunities to enjoy the beautiful South Carolina setting.

The award-winning environmental design of Camp Hall is a feature of high importance in the commerce park’s development. One of Camp Hall’s goals is to create a place where commerce and sustainability work together, and keeping everything in harmony – from a work-life balance to leaving our environment better than we found it – is a prime contributor to the success of thriving industry and a happy workforce. Whether your company is in need of a new office space or you simply would like to know more about how Camp Hall is devoted to building both a healthy workforce and a sustainable environment, we would love to hear from you.  Contact us today
