Thousands of drivers, jobs expected with new Volvo Interchange
BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) — The Volvo Interchange on Interstate 26 has been completed.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place on Thursday, one day before the South Carolina Department of Transportation will open the interchange to drivers.
“There’s opportunity here,” said Governor Henry McMaster after the ribbon-cutting ceremony. “This is an example of the kind of opportunity that exists in SC. Good, strong jobs for our people. Our people are as competent than anywhere in the whole world.”
McMaster said he’s confident South Carolina workers can fill the 10,000 jobs Berkeley County leaders expect the Camp Hall Commerce Park to create.
“I’m highly confident because we have the best workforce development system in the United States,” he said. “This is the proof right here of how strong the people right here in South Carolina are.”
The roadway will provide access from I-26 to the Volvo Cars facility at Camp Hall Commerce Park.
